Mimi Bekhechi is Director of PETA UK, the country’s largest animal rights organization with over 400,000 members and supporters dedicated to the protection of animals.
Mimi grew up in Belgium, and obtained her Bachelor of Law in Scotland before starting to work for PETA in 2008.
She has appeared on numerous television and radio programmes to defend the rights of all animals to live free from oppression. She has also penned dozens of articles published in national newspapers and magazines highlighting the suffering of animals in laboratories, in circuses and zoos, at the hands of the skins trade, and in the meat and dairy industries, and has spearheaded high-profile actions across the country.
A proud vegan, Mimi tries to live according to Gandhi’s famous words: “be the change you wish to see in the world”.
